[[We will always remember you.]]

A saddening message came later in the morning from Mrs Tan Mui Fong:

I'm sad to inform you that Ms Anna Foo, your chemistry teacher till mid sec 4, has passed away on Mon, 1 Nov. Her cause of death is unknown, though it's suspected cardiorespiratory failure. Please keep her in your prayers. ...

The wake is at Mt. Vernon, Upper Aljunied Road, Harmony Room. Service tonight at 8p.m. The funeral is tomorrow, Mandai Crematorium Hall 2 at 4.30 p.m. ...

I mass send out to the rest of the classmates first. It was right after my OP rehearsal that I read the message. Emotionless. I double check with my classmates the meaning of cardiorespiratory failure. I didn't want to talk to my good friend about it at first (since our OP wasn't up to standard today...everyone was down) but since I was asking for the meaning. ( I guess out of curiosity, she asked why) . I burst out crying... They ( my pw group) couldn't figure out what I was talking..they probably just hear strands of words coming out of my mouth as I dash out of the classroom before anyone could see my tears. Zhing chase after me...

Even though she wasn't with us for long and we won't really satisfied with her way of teaching, I just somehow felt something inside. The sadness just won't go away at that moment. I am not exactly close to her, still, memories of her gush through my mind. She was in her late 40s if I didn't remember wrongly. Curl hair and likes to wear flowery clothes, usually brown top with white flowers imprint on it. The girls in our class like to laugh at her for that. She just seems like an old-granny when she isn't. Talks like one, acts like one. It was a challenge to focus during her lesson. For someone like me who never ever sleep in class, it was the first time in my life that I can barely stay awake. Still, I did. Despite all these, she was knowledgeable. Undoubtedly. I guess only Sarah could keep up with her questions during class time. Their conversation just totally sounded like alien language to me. When we returned from June holidays, she left the school. No one knew until Mrs Tan told us. She 'left' quietly. No good-byes. No message. No farewell parties. She just disappeared.

Indeed, her time with us is short. However, the times she had together with everyone would not just be erase due to her passing. It will always be there. It is part of our memories. We will always remember you.
